Vie believes that people should be free to make their own choices and live their own lives. She has never liked being monitored and controlled by the Ministry. She only ever accepted it because she didn’t know there was an alternative.

Vie is also willing to make sacrifices to help her family live a good life. She believes that people who work harder and do more should be given greater rewards than those who don’t. She doesn’t agree with the Ministry on this, either.
